What do the fall festivals have to do with Jesus? These holidays include Rosh Hashanah (the Feast of Trumpets), Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), and Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles). This year, we are hosting a conference with The Moody Church called “Trumpets to Tents: Celebrating Jesus in the Jewish Holidays,” where we will explore these incredible holidays and what they mean to both Jewish people and Christians.
For instance, Sukkot reminds us how God tabernacled in the midst of Israel in the wilderness. Followers of Jesus experience God in their midst as His Spirit dwells in us (1 Corinthians 3:16–17). As God gave Israel rest from their oppressors, so too He gives followers of Jesus rest from the consequences of sin (Matthew 11:28–30). As God’s glory in the Tabernacle lit the Hebrews’ path, so too will God’s tabernacle, who is Jesus, provide eternal light for those written in the Lamb’s book of life (Revelation 21:3, 22–27). As God offered life to those who trusted in Him in the wilderness, He provides salvation and abundant life for all people who rest in Jesus the Messiah. Our speakers, workshops, and discussions will help you appreciate the lasting significance of Sukkot and the other fall holidays.
