A 52-Week Devotional on the Words of Moses

Many might perceive the Torah as intimidating, outdated, or even irrelevant. However, without the Torah, we cannot fully understand New Testament concepts, including Israel’s future redemption, the heavenly Tabernacle, or why Yeshua’s sacrifice was necessary. As you read this encouraging devotional, you will discover how the Torah lays the foundation for the rest of Scripture and has guidance for our lives today.

FAQ

This devotional is for everyone, whether you are Jewish or Gentile. Each devotional entry is based on the Torah reading for that week, but we frequently relate the passage to a theme or a story from the New Testament. One of our goals with this devotional is to show that the Bible is one cohesive book.

The readings are organized by the yearly Torah-reading cycle followed in synagogues around the world. Scribes added chapter and verse numbers centuries after the Bible was complete. Sometimes, the verse numbers in the Hebrew text do not quite align with the verse numbers of most translations. Here are the portions where a difference occurs:

Portion Hebrew Bible Reading English Bible Reading
Vayetzei Gen 28:10–32:3 Gen 28:10–32:2
Vayishlach Gen 32:4–36:43 Gen 32:3–36:43
Vayikra Lev 1:1–5:26 Lev 1:1–6:7
Tzav Lev 6:1–8:36 Lev 6:8–8:36
Pinchas Num 25:10–30:1 Num 25:10–29:40

We list the Torah (Genesis through Deuteronomy), Haftarah (Writings and Prophets), and B’rit Hadashah (New Testament) readings but do not include the full passages, so you will need to use your Bible to look up the readings.
