Advent is the practice of counting the days leading up to the celebration of Messiah’s arrival. Although Advent’s earliest documentation goes back to the fourth century in the common era, many awaited the arrival of the Messiah long before the implementation of the tradition. Today, we associate Advent with Jesus’ first coming. However, it actually had the dual purpose of memorializing the Messiah’s first coming and anticipating His second coming. This presentation will explore what is known as a very Christian tradition through a Jewish perspective.
