Name of Ministry
Beit Samurai
The vision of Chosen People Ministries is to be present in every country with a Jewish population or hot spots for Israeli tourists. We long to serve these precious people with the love of God and the truth of the Scriptures. The goal is to meet traveling Israelis across different countries in the world, sow seeds of the gospel of the Messiah in their hearts, and connect those who respond to the gospel with Messianic congregations in Israel.
We connect Jewish people who have been living outside of Israel for a long time to local Messianic Jewish congregations. The Jewish community in Japan is more than 3,000 people. There are Jewish people working in Japan, Japanese-Jewish intermarried couples, and Israelis studying in Japan. Most reside in Tokyo, though there is also a small Jewish community in Kobe.
In addition, more than 40,000 Israeli tourists visit Japan each year. Typically, young Israelis travel the world immediately after their mandatory military service and before their next big chapter of life. During this in-between season, they are often asking life’s most important questions and seeking reasons to be hopeful about the future. In other words, it is the perfect time to engage with them about the gospel of Messiah.
In 2022, David and Victoria Trubek, together with Isaac and Melissa Uchiyama, founded Chosen People Ministries in Japan. We are fulfilling the vision of ministering to the Jewish people and Israelis in Japan. Isaac and David opened a guest house friendly toward the Jewish and Israeli audience in Tokyo. We named the guest house “Beit Samurai.” Beit is Hebrew for “house,” and samurai means “servant,” so our name means “Home of the Servant.” Young Israelis love this name. As God has put on our hearts, we host Israelis traveling in Japan, exemplify the love of Messiah Jesus to them, and tell them about the gospel.
In addition, we organize Israeli cultural events. During these meetings, our team operates in the same manner as Yeshua did when He appeared to His two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Yeshua used the Old Testament to show them the truth about Himself, His crucifixion, and His resurrection (Luke 24:26–27). Likewise, we demonstrate with our guests how Yeshua alone fulfills all the prophets wrote about the Messiah. In addition to the Israelis traveling in Japan, we invite the local Jewish community and the Israelis who are in Japan for longer periods of time to our activities.
Thank God for His continued blessings over our ministry to the Japanese Jewish community and the Israelis traveling and studying in Japan. We at Chosen People Ministries—Japan believe our role is to preach the good news of Yeshua “to the Jew first” and then to support, pray, and work for the spread of the gospel in the entirety of Japan (Romans 1:16).
