From inside Mariupol, UKRAINE: Dire Situation – Urgent Prayer Requested
Mariupol is now under direct bombardment and is in the eye of the storm of this war, where the Russian military has begun targeting civilian areas. The situation is dire.
This is a text translated from Russian just received just hours ago from a brother in Christ in Mariupol who was able to send out this text earlier after they got a generator running and had temporary cell phone service:
“Good evening, friends. Please pray for us. You can’t even imagine what is going on here. Our family is [here] in a church on the left bank [of the Kalmius River, which is in the eastern part of the city, in the Livoberezhnyi Raion].
“By the grace of God, we are alive. The city has simply been wiped off the face of the earth. It is completely destroyed; there is no electricity. There is no gas. The gas pipeline has been blown up. People are going out on the streets to cook their food on stones. There is no water. Shops are smashed and looted. Bombs have fallen just a few meters from the church, windows are blown out—but we are alive. Now we have turned on generators, and I am writing this quickly before [power] is lost. Pray for us!
“I wanted to get out with the family while there was a corridor, but our car broke down, and thus far the Lord has not allowed us to leave. I pray to the Lord that He will come up with something for us. People have nowhere to live. Corpses lie in the streets. By God’s grace, they fed us twice in the church. Yesterday, for the first time during this whole time, we [were able to] wash the children. May the Lord give the rulers wisdom and may they come to an agreement. We don’t know how we will be able to live. [But] God is with us, and He is strong.”
