In 1941, Walter and Elizabeth Atkinson conducted door-to-door evangelism, launching Chosen People Ministries’ work in the Seattle area. During the 1980s, the Perkins had an independent work and became known for their regular Bible studies. Daniel Nessim and his wife Deborah then joined Chosen People Ministries in 1998 and continued the work with monthly havurahs (fellowship meetings), Bible studies, and outreach.
The Portland branch participates in street evangelism in the summer months and follow-up discipleship during the winter. The Abrahamson’s are bold and successful evangelists, and Jack Meadows serves through teaching and as support staff for Allen.

Joseph Hoffman Cohn, then president of the ministry, authorized the work but the branch never launched. In 1970, the ministry sent Moishe Rosen and a small band of helpers to minister to those living in the San Francisco Bay Area in order to minister to the large number of Jewish people who were now open to the gospel due to the Jesus Movement. Street evangelism and music ministry flourished in those days. Among those who came to faith there was Mitch Glaser, current president of Chosen People Ministries, who, along with three of his friends, found the Lord. The excitement and challenges of street evangelism began to influence the direction of his ministry in the future. It has been many years since Chosen People Ministries last had an active work in this area, but we are looking forward to restarting the branch in the near future.
