The unthinkable happened on October 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas terrorists swept into Israel, murdering, raping, and kidnapping innocent Israelis living near Gaza and young people attending a music festival. Hamas perpetrated unspeakable crimes against humanity by slaughtering the elderly, children, and the defenseless. These atrocities followed months of Hamas bombarding the south of Israel with rockets, causing mothers and fathers to hide in bomb shelters to keep their families alive.
The Israeli Defense Forces called up 360,000 reserve troops to join the regular army to fight the terrorists and eliminate the threat against Israel. In the process, many innocent Gazans have lost their lives due to Hamas’ using them as human shields.
The loss of innocent lives continues, and Hamas is still holding more than 100 hostages taken on October 7 in captivity. From recent reports, we know they are experiencing torture, sexual abuse, and deprivation of the basic human necessities to sustain life and health.
These horrors must end, but we also know Hamas is linked to Hezbollah, Iran, and others who still seek the destruction of Israel and Jewish people.
We must pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and raise our voices in support of Israel’s goals to eliminate the threat of Hamas now and in the future and bring the hostages home.
